“Elven Ranger” isn’t one monster in Summoners War — it’s a family of five elemental variants
(Fire, Water, Wind, Light, and Dark), each with its own name and its own best use case. Which one is
“best” depends entirely on which element you have and what you’re building a team for. Here’s how
the family breaks down and what to prioritize on runes.
The five Elven Rangers
- Isillen (Dark Elven Ranger) is the strongest all-rounder of the family, with a
multi-hit first skill and a second skill that applies Continuous Damage to four random targets — and
that skill’s cooldown shortens further if enemies are already burning. He’s best in attrition modes
like Siege, Guild Wars, and Necropolis, where DoTs have time to stack. His leader skill gives allies
+20% Attack Power. - Eluin (Water Elven Ranger) is a Guild War defense specialist, valued for
reducing enemy Attack Bar — particularly effective against revive-on-death monsters like Perna,
since they come back with whatever Attack Bar they had when they died. He’s not strong enough for
Rift of Worlds content. - Erwin (Wind Elven Ranger), Adrian (Fire Elven Ranger), and
Lucien (Light Elven Ranger) round out the family with more situational or
early-game roles — useful low-rarity options while building a roster, but generally outclassed by
Isillen and Eluin once you have better 4-5★ monsters to slot in.
Rune set priorities
Across the family, the rune-set choice depends on what you’re using the monster for:
- Fatal + Blade for straightforward raw damage output, especially early on.
- Violent + Revenge for extra turns and counter-attack procs, which suits Isillen’s
DoT-stacking playstyle well since more turns means more chances to reapply Continuous Damage. - Destroy if you’re specifically countering high-HP sustain teams in Siege, since
it strips a percentage of the target’s max HP per hit rather than relying on raw ATK stat.
Stat priorities
Regardless of which variant or rune set you pick, prioritize in roughly this order: Crit Rate
(to a comfortable floor, typically 70-100% with buffs), Crit Damage, ATK%, and enough Speed to act
before the enemy team when it matters for your specific comp. Keep a small amount of Accuracy if
you’re relying on a debuff (like Isillen’s Attack Speed reduction) actually landing against tanky
targets.
Bottom line
- Isillen (Dark) is the strongest general pick — Siege, Guild Wars, and Necropolis via stacking DoTs.
- Eluin (Water) is a Guild War-specific defensive pick, especially against Attack-Bar-reliant revive comps.
- Erwin, Adrian, and Lucien are early-roster fillers rather than long-term keepers.
- Rune priority: Violent + Revenge for turn-cycling DoT builds, Fatal + Blade for raw damage, Destroy against sustain teams.
