Town Hall 4 gives you 80 troop capacity and 15 Clan Castle capacity to work with, and two strategies cover almost every attack at this level: GiaLoon for a full 3-star push, and a simpler Giants + Archers combo for reliable farming.
GiaLoon (the 3-star strategy)
GiaLoon combines Giants as a tank with Balloons as the actual damage-dealer, and it’s the most effective TH4 strategy when you want a full 3-star war attack rather than just a resource raid.
- 6-7 Giants — sent in first to absorb damage and pull Air Defense fire away from the Balloons
- 6-8 Balloons — held back until the Giants have drawn out and ideally destroyed the Air Defense
- 2 Wall Breakers — used to open a path if the Giants get walled off before reaching the Air Defense
The sequence matters: send the Giants in first on one side of the base, let them tank and start knocking down the Air Defense, then release the Balloons once that Air Defense is down or heavily damaged. Balloons dropped too early just get shredded.
Giants + Archers (the simple farming strategy)
This is the more forgiving option for everyday resource farming rather than war attacks. All your Giants go in on one side of the base to tank damage, with Archers following behind to clean up buildings once the Giants have drawn defensive fire. Add a couple of Wall Breakers if you need to get past outer walls to reach the loot-heavy core.
Clan Castle troops
At Town Hall 4, request Giants or Wizards for your Clan Castle if a clanmate can donate them — either reinforces whichever strategy you’re running, giving the Giants extra tanking power or adding more splash damage from Wizards.
Choosing between the two
Use GiaLoon when you’re pushing for a full 3-star war attack and can afford the setup time and troop cost. Use Giants + Archers for quick, low-risk farming runs where a partial destruction percentage is good enough and you’d rather not spend elixir on Balloons every attack.
