Best Vampire Lord Warhammer 2

Total War: Warhammer 2’s Vampire Counts have several standout Legendary Lords, each suited to a different playstyle — melee tanking, magical devastation, or late-game economic dominance.

Top Legendary Lords

  • Vlad von Carstein — a strong footlord whose regeneration cap makes him likely to be the last unit standing in almost any fight. He pairs especially well with Isabella von Carstein, since the two buff each other when reinforcing.
  • Mannfred von Carstein — a magical powerhouse capable of soloing entire armies once mounted on a zombie dragon. He starts with a discounted Arcane Conduit, and his access to two full lores of magic (a rarity) puts his magical output on par with dedicated casters like Teclis or Morathi, while still being a genuinely strong melee combatant.
  • Isabella von Carstein — her faction effects boost vampire heroes and their damage output, making a vampire-heavy “doomstack” army build especially strong. She shines as a late-game lord once you’ve built up a vampire-dense roster.
  • Heinrich Kemmler — the strongest late-game pick at high difficulty, built around the classic Vampire Counts strategy of mass free skeleton units backed by necromancers for AoE healing. His unique upkeep reduction for necromancers (stacking with the Lahmian bloodline’s own hero-upkeep discount) makes his economy dramatically cheaper to sustain than other lords.

Choosing between them

Vlad and Mannfred are generally considered the strongest overall picks — Vlad for durability, Mannfred for raw power once he’s unlocked his dragon mount. Isabella suits players who want to lean hard into a vampire-hero-focused army, while Kemmler dominates specifically in the late game thanks to his upkeep discounts making a huge, sustainable skeleton army possible.
