The Eleaf iStick Pico is a compact box mod, and its small footprint is exactly what makes tank compatibility worth thinking through before buying one. This guide covers what actually determines whether a tank works well on a Pico-series device, without recommending or linking to specific vaping products.
Thread and connection standard
Every iStick Pico mod uses the industry-standard 510 threaded connection at its top, which is the same connection used by the vast majority of vape tanks, RTAs, and RDAs on the market. In terms of raw compatibility, a 510-threaded tank will physically screw onto the device. Fitment problems on the Pico line come from geometry, not the connection standard.
Diameter and overhang
The Pico’s body is narrow, generally in the 22-23mm range depending on the exact model in the line (Pico, Pico 21700, Pico Squeeze, and later variants all differ slightly). A tank noticeably wider than the mod’s body will overhang the top, which is a cosmetic and ergonomic issue more than a functional one, but it does change how the device sits in the hand and can put stress on the 510 connection over time if the tank is heavy. Matching a tank’s diameter closely to the mod’s body, or accepting a small, intentional overhang, is the main practical decision.
Wattage range and coil resistance
Pico-series mods top out at different wattages depending on generation, older Pico and Pico 25 models are limited to roughly 75-100W, while later variants in the line push higher. Whatever the ceiling, a tank should be chosen with coils whose recommended wattage range sits comfortably within what the mod can deliver. A sub-ohm tank built around very low-resistance coils meant for a 200W+ device will be starved of power on a lower-wattage Pico and may not perform as the coil manufacturer intended; a tank built around higher-resistance coils in the 0.5-1.2 ohm range generally pairs better with the lower end of the wattage spectrum.
Airflow and juice consumption
Sub-ohm tanks with wide-open airflow are built for direct-lung use and high vapor production, which also means faster e-liquid consumption and, on a lower-wattage device, a less saturated draw than the tank was designed to deliver. A tank with adjustable, restrictable airflow gives more flexibility to match the draw style to what a Pico-class mod can actually push.
Safety and regulatory notes
Vaping products are age-restricted and regulated differently across countries and, in some places, across states or provinces; rules on nicotine strength, flavored e-liquid, and device sales vary and change. Battery and coil handling carries real safety considerations, an incorrectly matched coil resistance and wattage setting can produce excessive heat or battery strain. Anyone assembling a vape setup should check current local regulations and follow the mod and coil manufacturers’ stated safety limits rather than pushing a device beyond its rated range.
