Geonosian Spy is a damage-focused attacker in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. A current SWGOH.GG Kyber sample shows Critical Damage plus Critical Chance as the most common mod pairing among its top modded Spy examples, with Critical Damage plus Health and Offense plus Critical Chance also appearing. That is a valuable benchmark, not a universal order. The right build depends on the quality of your mods, team turn order, mode and whether Spy is surviving long enough to use Silent Strike.
Read the kit before choosing a set
Spy’s basic, Feint, deals physical damage and grants Critical Chance Up for two turns. Silent Strike is his defining special: when Spy is Stealthed, it dispels status effects from Spy and the target, then adds 40% more damage for each effect dispelled. Illicit Intel grants Separatist allies Potency Up and Exposes enemies. Hive Tactics gives Spy Stealth at the start of an encounter and whenever he scores a critical hit. Critical reliability therefore supports both damage and repeated Stealth; speed and offense determine whether he gets a useful chance to deliver that damage.
Default set and primaries
Start with a Critical Damage four-piece and Critical Chance two-piece set if the available pieces have good secondaries. It is a natural fit for a character whose major hit benefits from being Stealthed and whose unique rewards critical hits. Do not force that set if it means using slow, low-offense mods. For the arrow, Speed is the normal primary. The current Kyber sample heavily favors it, and an additional turn can matter more than a modest paper-damage gain. Use an Offense arrow only when it has exceptional speed secondaries or your planned turn order already works better that way.
Critical Damage is the usual triangle primary. Protection is the common circle choice in current competitive examples, giving a fragile attacker a better chance to take the important turn. Offense is the normal cross primary. Square and diamond primaries are fixed as Offense and Defense, so assess their speed and offense secondaries carefully. This is a role-based template, not an excuse to discard an unusually strong alternative mod.
Secondaries and turn order
Prioritize Speed first, then Offense. Critical Chance is useful until hits are dependable; after that, a faster or more offense-heavy piece is often better. Protection and health are valuable if Spy is routinely defeated before acting. Potency helps Illicit Intel’s Expose utility, but it is usually a supporting stat rather than the centre of a Silent Strike build. There is no universally correct total-speed target. A newer roster may need Spy to move before a threat removes him. A developed Geonosian squad may need him later, after allies have created the situation for his special.
Watch actual battles. If Spy fires Silent Strike before there are useful effects to dispel, more speed may not solve the problem; team sequencing or setup may be the real issue. If he never gets a turn, speed, protection and the rest of the team’s control matter. A useful build produces a Stealthed Silent Strike at the point when it can matter, rather than simply winning a character-sheet comparison.
Team context changes the answer
With Geonosian Brood Alpha alive, Spy receives Hive Mind bonuses, including a one-turn reduction to Silent Strike’s cooldown from Illicit Intel. The Geonosian squad also supplies the assist, debuff and control environment in which Spy operates. A setup that looks powerful in isolation can fail if it breaks that team’s timing. Conversely, Spy used outside a complete Geonosian core will not receive the same value from those interactions. Current Grand Arena data should be treated as a baseline for that competitive context, not as a universal PvE prescription.
Practical checklist
- Use Critical Damage plus Critical Chance when the pieces are genuinely strong.
- Prefer a Speed arrow, Critical Damage triangle, Protection circle and Offense cross.
- Seek Speed and Offense secondaries before chasing minor set perfection.
- Use Critical Chance and survival stats to solve a visible reliability problem.
- Test Silent Strike while Stealthed and after useful setup, not only against a target dummy.
- Recheck the build after changing the rest of the Geonosian squad or mode.
Use the special deliberately
Silent Strike is not simply Spy?s biggest button to press whenever it becomes available. Its Stealthed version removes effects from both characters and then scales from the effects removed, so its outcome changes with the board state. A buff-heavy enemy can be a better target than an unprepared target, and Spy carrying a removable effect can contribute too. Do not delay every use in pursuit of a perfect hit, but check whether the team created a real dispel opportunity before declaring the turn order wrong. In a short encounter, a reliable earlier turn can still be more valuable than waiting for an unlikely setup.
The best mods for Geonosian Spy are a role-fitting damage build tailored to your roster. The popular Critical Damage and Critical Chance combination is a sensible start; game mechanics and team timing decide whether it remains the best finish.
