Edible markers work best on dry, smooth decorating surfaces such as fully dried royal icing, fondant and gum paste. Tip geometry matters: fine nibs suit lettering and outlines, while dual-tip pens add a broader end for filling. The items below are current food-contact products from named manufacturers or retailers; regular stationery markers do not belong on cookies. Let each color dry before layering another color and cap markers promptly to avoid drying. Use markers on smooth, dry icing or fondant; porous baked surfaces can blunt fine lines. Test one color on spare icing first.
