A “troll” deck in Clash Royale isn’t built to climb the ladder efficiently — it’s built to frustrate, stall, and bait a rage-quit, usually in 2v2 or friendly matches where losing a little trophy efficiency is fine in exchange for chaos. The common thread across every troll archetype is the same: deny the opponent a normal game by cycling cheap cards, cloning your own troops, or dragging matches out with defensive stalling until the other side makes a mistake.
Elixir Golem Mirror Cycle Troll
This deck leans on Elixir Golem as a cheap, self-splitting tank and Mirror to double up on whatever you just played, most often an Elixir Collector parked safely behind your king tower. The point isn’t raw damage — it’s grinding out an elixir advantage so lopsided that the opponent is defending on fumes by the two-minute mark while you’re playing at a near-permanent elixir lead.
Barrel Mirror Clone Chaos (2v2)
A 2v2 favorite built around Goblin Barrel, Mirror, and Clone. Drop a barrel, mirror it for a second barrel, then Clone your own push at the bridge so the opposing team is suddenly facing twice the goblins and twice the chip damage they were tracking a second ago. It’s less a coherent strategy than a controlled explosion, which is exactly the point in a troll deck.
Ebarbs Balloon Rage-Freeze
Electro Giant or a tank leads, Balloon rides in the pocket, and Rage plus Freeze turn the final push into a wall of undefendable damage — Freeze locks down the opponent’s defenders mid-animation while Rage speeds your own troops past them. Timed correctly against a low-elixir opponent, this combo can end a tower before the other side even finishes typing their reaction.
Goblin Barrel + Miner Bait
A simpler troll tactic rather than a full deck: pairing Goblin Barrel with Miner so the barrel’s three goblins land at the same moment the Miner tunnels in behind the tower. Most single-target defenders can only answer one threat, which is what makes this pairing a reliable way to force chip damage even from players who know it’s coming.
Log Bait
Log Bait decks (Goblin Barrel, Princess, Skeleton Barrel, Dart Goblin, Rocket) exploit The Log’s efficiency against swarm cards by stacking so many splash-vulnerable troops that the opponent either overcommits The Log on a cheap bait card or eats repeated chip damage from the ones it can’t cover. It has a reputation as one of the more “toxic” archetypes precisely because it wins by making every log placement feel wrong.
When (and When Not) to Troll
Troll decks thrive in 2v2, friendly battles, and casual laddering where a loss costs little. They’re a rougher fit for ranked 1v1 push games or tournament play, where the chaos that makes them fun to play against a random opponent can just as easily backfire against someone who punishes overcommitment. Save the barrel-mirror-clone nonsense for messing with a friend, not for a trophy-road push.
